Hi, I'm Dr. Robert Stanton. If you're missing a tooth, or several, you already know it affects more than your smile. It changes how you chew, how you speak and how freely you laugh. Dental implants are one of the most natural-feeling ways to replace missing teeth, and I want to explain how they work and how our team handles them here in Fort Lauderdale, all under one roof.

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth. A small post is placed in the jawbone, and over time the bone heals around it and holds it firmly in place. Once that foundation is ready, a custom crown is attached on top, the part you see when you smile.

The result is a replacement tooth that's anchored in your jaw, so it doesn't rest on your gums or rely on neighboring teeth for support.

Who Are Implants a Good Fit For?

Implants can be a great option if you:

  • Are missing a single tooth
  • Are missing several teeth
  • Have a tooth that can't be saved
  • Want a more stable option than a removable replacement

Good candidates generally have healthy gums and enough bone to support an implant. Some patients need extra preparation first, and that's something we'll talk about openly. Every situation is different, so I won't promise a result before we've had a careful look.

How the Process Works

Here's the general path most of our implant patients follow. You can read a more detailed, step-by-step guide to the implant procedure on our blog.

  1. Consultation and imaging. We start with a free implant consultation. We take imaging, review your health history and talk about your goals.
  2. Implant placement. Our on-staff implant surgeon places the implant right here in our office.
  3. Healing and integration. Your jawbone gradually bonds with the implant to create a strong foundation. How long this takes varies from person to person.
  4. Your final crown. I design, make and place your implant crown in-house using CEREC digital technology.

Teeth in a Day

For many people, the hardest part of losing a tooth is the gap. That's why we offer Teeth in a Day: same-day dental implants with a temporary restoration placed on the implant. You can leave with a tooth in place while the implant heals, then return for your permanent crown. Ask about it at your consultation, and we'll tell you honestly whether it's right for you.

What Makes Stanton Smiles Different

A Surgeon and a Restorative Dentist, Working as One Team

Many patients are used to being sent to one office for surgery and another for the crown. Here, our on-staff implant surgeon places your implant, and I handle the crown that sits on top of it. We work together in the same office, so the plan for your new tooth is coordinated from the very first visit.

Your Crown Made In-House With CEREC

Instead of sending your case to an outside dental lab, I design and mill your implant crown right here with CEREC, our in-office digital CAD/CAM system. That means I can shape your crown while looking at your actual smile, matching it to your face and your neighboring teeth.

Experience You Can Trust

I studied at Tufts School of Dental Medicine and the University of Miami, and I'm a member of the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. In 25 years of private practice, I've completed about 80,000 restorative appointments, about 20,000 of them crowns. That focus on how a tooth looks and functions is what I bring to every implant crown.

I'm also grateful for the trust our neighbors have shown us. Our practice holds a 4.8-star Google rating from nearly 1,300 reviews.

Paying for Your Implants

We offer financing through CareCredit and Compassionate Finance. We accept most PPO plans, and my team will verify your benefits so you know where you stand. Coverage for implants varies, so we'll review your options with you before treatment begins.
